St. Stephen's Cemetery is owned and operated by the Council of Ukrainian Orthodox Churches of Edmonton (CUOCE), a non-profit organization, and is a registered society with the Province of Alberta. It is a charitable organization registered with the Charities Directorate of the CRA.
Developing a cemetery is a major undertaking, requiring major startup costs. Funds are derived from two major sources: 1) from the purchase of the many services available at the cemetery, and 2) from donations and sponsorship.
1. Donations: Charitable donations to support further development can be made for which tax deductible receipts will be issued.
2. Tree Sponsorship: You can "sponsor" a tree on the cemetery as a unique remembrance for a loved one. Your tree will be planted and maintained by us and acknowledged with a plaque at the base of the tree. (See photo under What we Offer – Tree Plaques).
3. Bench Sponsorship: Families can purchase a granite bench for the Cemetery. Names of your choice will be engraved on the bench as a memorial.
